Audacity - Free Audio Editor

It is quite long as I enjoy a legal application to do my work, although it is not as complex commercial applications, but it is more than enough to meet what I need. This application was developed by a group of volunteers and distributed under GNU General Public License (GPL), how generous they are.

In June 2008, Audacity obtains reference as one of the best product in 2008 of PC World magazine version . Go for developers!

Audacity is a freeware that is used to edit and record audio files under Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems platform.

We can use Audacity to:

• Record audio directly from microphone, line input, or from other sources to be saved in digital format. Audacity also has the ability to multi-track recording (requires certain hardware)

• Cut, copy, split or combine audio files in Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV or AIFF format. Unfortunately, Audacity does not support the audio formats like WMA, AAC, or some other format, the solution is we first converting file that are not supported by this application.

• To provide effects such as change the tempo, reduce/eliminate noise, set the Equalizer (bass, treble), adjust the volume, to give effect took over between the tracks (or other fading), and other effects.
